"Ewan is the most hardworking and versatile composer I have met. Despite the complexity of the required score (a subtle Middle Eastern flavour), he offered one solution after another until I was completely satisfied."

Showreel
For those after a quick sampler, here are six short excerpts from a range of my recent short film scores.
Palm Sunday
Jesus arrives in Jerusalem, a week prior to his death. He receives a King's welcome by crowds, yet he is humble, riding on a donkey. Given what is to come, this is a bittersweet scene.
First Photo
A tender scene in which a new friendship deepens. Mohammed, a lonely Moroccan boy, is taught by a travelling photographer to take his first photo. Featuring Andrew Simmons on guitar.
Metricity
Written to evoke a character who is 10 and obsessive about neatness and measurement. The music captures his child-like logic, endearing quirks and optimism.
Luz
This is the opening of a surreal, dreamlike film about an ill older man searching a strange forest for a special light blub that represents life and hope to him.
Elegy
Not connected to any particular film as yet, this is an elegiac cor anglais theme that for me resonates with old, rural England.
Medea's Lament
Written to an imaginary film scenario for audition purposes: "We see the gleaming white of an ancient Greek city... what follows is the tragedy of Medea."
Magic Bookcase
One night, an angry young Kai makes a wish beside his bookcase "that there is no such thing as parents"... he gets his wish, and for a few mad days, "Kids Rule".
Consolation
A young woman living in the Malaysian jungle is consoled by her father after a new romance is suddenly and brutally torn apart, and lonliness returns.
Hope and Yearning
At the end of the film, after romance, rejection, regret and lonliness, here is hope and yearning for reunion, and finally a warm embrace.
Sunshine Theme
This accompanies a bright yet reflective opening scene in which a radiant mother brings her newborn baby into the sunshine for the first time.
End Credits
Three women confess to the murder of the man they are all in love with. But all is not as it seems...
Cooking up a storm
The fastest way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Chantal passionately and elaborately cooks in an attempt to rekindle some romance in her marriage.
Laura's Theme
Starring Jennifer Ludlam (Apron Strings), the film is about an amusingly nervy woman and her frantic reaction after her partner's estranged, gay, brazillian son knocks at her door.
Cartoon Chase
Written to an imaginary cartoon chase scenario for audition purposes, with the original title "Spike Zone".
Tiger Lament
In an emotive film promoting tiger conservation, this lament accompanies images and voice-over dealing with tiger poaching, cruel captivity and habitat destruction.
Healing the Earth
A collaboration with vocalist Subhiksha Rangarajan, this accompanies an inspirational montage of Indian natural beauty, with a voice-over entreating viewers to play their part in healing the earth.
Rainforest Awakening
Written to a colourful montage of wildlife as an Indian rainforest wakes up. This forms part of the dramatic opening to a documentary urging the conservation of such rainforests.
Walking Nightmare
From webisode 5 of the offbeat black comedy Chronicals of Dr Sally and the Suicidal Sleepwalker. This particular sequence involves a dangerous sleepwalk through a seedy part of London.
Fractured Family
At the opening of the film, we are introduced to some strained family dynamics, involving a man who beats his wife and inculcates his lonely son with racist views.
